Health & Safety Manager

Ref: CP5145 Salary: ££35,000 Contract Type: PermanentLocation: Medway Towns (Gillingham, Chatham & Rochester)

Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for Health & Safety Manager for our client, a family owned construction supplier based in Rochester

Salary: £35,000 per annum

The successful Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for understanding, interpreting, communicating and updating the requirements of the Company’s Management Systems. Keeping up to date with evolving health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to the company ensuring that all relevant systems are updated and these updates and their implications are communicated to employees and all relevant stakeholders in a consistent and timely manner.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Site Management Team in fulfilling their responsibilities for HSE on site
  • Implement Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and projects on site
  • Undertake regular site tours to ensure HSE standards are being maintained
  • Ensure HSE systems on site are maintained and kept up to date
  • Work towards accreditation to ISO9001 & ISO45001 Management Standards
  • Maintain company accreditations and associations (SAEMA, CHAS, Construction line, Achilles , Safecontractor)
  • Set and monitor the Company Health, Safety and Environmental goals
  • Provide guidance and support across all levels of the business to maintain a consistent approach to HSE Management and best practice
  • Identify HSE training, competency, and awareness requirements
  • Oversee the risk assessment and written Safe Systems of Work (SSW) for the site
  • Carry out and support management team with Accident, near miss and RIDDOR reports and actions
  • Ensure PPE requirements for site are established and maintained
  • Manage site access controls and other site facilities and required compliance
  • Management site inspections and audits including external mandatory inspections
  • Consult and communication with the business on HSE matters
  • Advance and promote a sustainability and health & safety culture in the workplace
  • Assist in Auditing programmes, including internal and external audits
  • Monitor and maintain client contract dashboards
  • Ensure security access for site and DBS for staff are maintained
  • Manage and control budget ensuring cost effectiveness for the business

 

Experience required:

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, and Quality systems
  • Engineering, manufacturing, working at height experience essential
  • Competent in safety and environmental inspections
  • Competent in auditing
  • Competent in accurately recording results of all inspections, checks and audits in clear legible manner consistent with the requirements of the respective standard.
  • Experience of integrating Environment, Health and Safety legislation into Management Systems
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Certificate
  • Member of recognised body, IOSH To minimal Tech, IIRSM etc.
  • ISO Internal auditor
  • Environmental qualifications an advantage
