Recruitment Solutions (Folkestone) Ltd has been engaged to assist with the recruitment of a Caretaker for a period of 6 months.


The role of Caretaker is within the public sector, working as part of the Neighbourhoods Team.


Rate of Pay & Hours of Work:

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

£10.59 - £11.64 per hour


As part of a small caretaking team, you will be out and about most days in  a small works vehicle which will  be provided, with either other Caretakers or on your own, travelling from site to site to carry out caretaking and other duties.


We are looking for someone within a “can do” approach who is happy to work with limited supervision who is able to plan their own working day to ensure all the requested tasks are completed to a high standard. You will be working within a supportive team and have regular contact with your manager and other colleagues.


What experience we are looking for in an individual:

In order to complete the duties required for this Caretaker opportunity we are looking for recent experience in “DIY” (not decoration) or general maintenance and repairs and have experience with small power tools such as drills, for example.

The successful post holder will be expected to have the skills and experience to carry out small basic repairs.

Duties will include completing minor, non-electrical repairs to communal areas such as door closers, stair treads, graffiti removal, reporting all electrical and other non-minor repairs.

Carry out occasional jet washing to courtyards and drying areas of properties.

Complete after repair inspections to ensure repairs carried out to high standard.

Some duties could include tidying up refuse bin areas so you must be physically capable of carrying out manual aspects of the role that will include periods of standing, walking, sweeping, litter picking plus general lifting and carrying.

Basic knowledge and an understanding of health & safety required with experience of having applied the principals of health & safety in the workplace.

A commitment to working to high standards.

A driving licence is required as you will be provided with a small vehicle in order to complete the Caretaker duties.


Additional Skills:

In order to complete the requirements of the Caretaker position, good spoken communication skills are also required with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues.

This could, for example include explaining something or sharing information or perhaps holding an occasional difficult conversation with an irritated customer.
