Operational Support Technician Laboratory

Ref: DCP-LAB Salary: £18,000 Contract Type: PermanentLocation: East Sussex

Operational Support Technician Laboratory 

Responsible for maintaining a safe & efficient operation of all activities within the laboratory inclusive of  Health and Safety Regulations compliance/relevant Quality Assurance Procedures & Operational Process support. The role is shift pattern based working a weekly alternating shift pattern (Monday to Friday). Relevant industry experience and some knowledge of environmental or waste management would be beneficial.

Location: East Sussex - own transport is essential

Salary: A starting salary of £18000/a plus performance related bonus

Hours: between 06:30 and 18:00 Monday to Friday on shift pattern

Essentials: Minimum Science HNC (or equivalent)

All About the ROLE!

  • Perform Quality Control analysis. Maintain Laboratory Records. Issue of Laboratory reports as required by Works Procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping & cleaning standards within the Laboratory area.
  • Maintain the Laboratory Store in a safe and efficient manner
  • Sample and dispatch materials after a satisfactorily analysis has been completed. The calibration of all laboratory test equipment
  • Weighbridge administration support and process operator training
  • Waste water management and drumming support
  • Process operational support/shift support
  • Reporting of near miss, accidents, and incidents on Workbench
  • L8 Compliance of cooling towers & domestic showers. Boiler water sampling & analysis
  • Submitting continuous improvement suggestions to reduce accidents, incidents or to raise profitability on site. Lab scale R&D investigative and project exercises.

All About YOU!

  • Ability to liaise with all areas of the business
  • Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.  SAP is a desirable skill but training will be provided if required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Problem solving and decisiveness
  • Results focused
  • A  waste management background would be a distinct advantage
  • Good understanding of the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment (GC, GCMS, Karl Fisher, IC, XRF etc)
  • IPPC awareness and the ability to interpret and meet key legislative requirements
